Is This the Most Expensive Ice Cream in the World?
Dubai is known as one of the world's most luxurious destinations and now the city has one more delicacy one the menu: the Black Diamond sundae, which could be the world's most expensive ice cream.
The decadent treat sells for $817 and features one scoop of Madagascar vanilla ice cream, Iranian saffron threads and black Italian truffle. It is topped with a sprinkle of 23-karat edible gold leaf and served in a Versace Bowl with a Versace spoon, which customers can keep after forking over almost a grand for a taste of luxury.
The Black Diamond is sold at Scoopi Café, which recently opened on Jumeirah Beach Road. It took owner Zubin Doshi five weeks to come up with the right mix of ingredients for the stunning dessert, which he hopes breaks the record for the world's most expensive ice cream, according to local media.
“Popular ice-cream products in the city are priced lower, but we expect Dubai’s increasingly aspirational consumers to readily pay a premium for a superior product,” Doshi said.

The Orange Dream flavor sounds like a real treat. They make it with crème fraiche, Cointreau and swirls of candied orange peel.
There are plenty of other flavors, just see what you like.

Is this the world's most expensive ice cream?
When it comes to Dubai, bigger and blingier is nearly always considered better.
So it comes as no surprise that a Dubai ice cream shop is now serving what may be the world’s most expensive ice cream.
The Scoopi Café’s “Black Diamond” ice cream retails at AED2,999, or £530, for a single scoop.
Inside, you’ll find a rather curious mix of high-price ingredients, including Madagascan vanilla, Iranian saffron and slices of truffles imported from Italy.
And for topping, forget a humble Cadbury’s flake or butterscotch sauce: it is crowned with a sprinkling of edible 23-carat gold.
Even the bowl is designer: it is Versace, and the customer gets to keep it after they’ve scoffed the contents (well, for that price, you’d hope so.)
Scoopi café’s owner Zubin Doshi, told Arabian Business: “Popular ice-cream products in the city are priced lower, but we expect Dubai's increasingly aspirational consumers to readily pay a premium for a superior product.”
Dubai is no stranger to expensive novelty foods. A few years ago, a bakery in the emirate unveiled the world's most expensive cupcake, at AED3,676 (around £648) a pop. Until 2012, Dubai also held the record for the most priciest cocktail, with a £4,632 tipple served at Burj Al Arab Hotel.

The Ingredients Inside The World’s Most Expensive Ice Cream Sundae Will Make You Want To Pass Out
If you consider yourself a bougie babe, listen up! Because this ice cream sundae is beyond bougie. Ice cream brand Three Twins has created “The World’s More Expensive Most Expensive Ice Cream Sundae,” which can be all yours for the very reasonable price of $60,000. Wait, what do you mean that’s not reasonable?
Okay, well, what if we told you that “The World’s More Expensive Most Expensive Ice Cream Sundae” isn’t just a sundae? It’s actually an
of a lifetime. Grab your passport, some warm clothes, and your checkbook.
According to the Three Twins website, for $60,000, Three Twins founder Neal Gottlieb will escort you to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. There, Gottlieb will hand-churn a batch of ice cream using “glacial ice from the mountain’s summit.” You’ll also fly first-class to Africa and stay at a 5-star hotel during your visit.
Oh, and you get a souvenir t-shirt made with organic cotton. Score!
Gottlieb further explained the ice cream sundae experience to CNBC on August 18th. “The process starts with harvesting ice from the glacier, which is put into a dry bag, into a backpack and carried down to camp,” Gottlieb said. “A small pot is put inside a larger pot and the space between is filled with ice and salt, which lowers the temperature of the mixture.”
“Milk, cream, sugar, and flavoring are mixed and added to the pot,” Gottlieb continued. “The mixture is stirred, and the part that freezes to the wall of the inner pot is scraped off. Eventually the whole mixture freezes and you have ice cream.” Just ice cream. Yes, very cool, very fancy ice cream — but not a sundae. Where are the toppings?!
According to CNBC, no one has purchased “The World’s More Expensive Most Expensive Ice Cream Sundae” yet. That might be because it’s not actually an ice cream sundae…
But, here’s an incentive to get you millionaires to spend — $10,000 of that $60,000 price tag will be donated to an African environmental non-profit. Gottlieb noted that Kilimanjaro’s glaciers are predicted to disappear in the next 10 to 15 years, and your $10,000 contribution will go toward raising awareness about global warming effects in Africa.
The Takeout did the math and figured out that the trip itself plus the $10K donation ends up costing a lot less than $60,000. But it’s likely that Gottlieb is offering this experience simply as a marketing ploy and is just aiming to raise awareness about global warming. And if that’s the case, it’s working. This sundae is getting a lot of attention.
If you’re not quite ready to put so much money down, you might want to check out Three Twins’ “World’s Most Expensive Ice Cream Sundae,” the “More Expensive Most Expensive’s” predecessor made with “rare dessert wines” and served with an 1850s ice cream spoon. And similar to the “More Expensive Most Expensive,” one-third of your $3,333.33 bill will be donated to a local land trust.
Until we win the lottery, we’re just going to have to stick to buying a regular old pint of Three Twins from Whole Foods.

The 'Most Expensive Ice Cream In The World' Costs $817 A Scoop
Going out for ice cream isn't cheap these days. As The New York Times notes, it's not uncommon to pay $4 for a small scoop without any toppings. Add some "organic whipped cream, sustainable strawberries and French bittersweet chocolate chunks," and you're in double digits territory before you know it.
But just how much is too much? How about $817 for a scoop!
This isn't fantasy. This is real life. According to Business Insider, a shop in Dubai called Scoopi Cafe serves an $817 scoop called the "Black Diamond," and BI reports it is "considered to be the most expensive ice cream in the world." It'd better be!
The Black Diamond is a scoop of Madagascar vanilla ice cream topped with Italian truffles, Iranian saffron and edible 23-karat gold flakes. The ice cream is served in a Versace bowl, which anyone who orders the Black Diamond can keep.
Though we couldn't immediately turn up evidence of a pricier single scoop, the title of "most expensive ice cream" doesn't seem entirely settled. News outlets including AOL and The Telegraph are hedging reports with words like "may be" and "might be." "May?" If there's a pricer ice cream out there, show your face! (On second thought, please don't: The $1,000 sundae from Chicago's Lanhgam Hotel is enough already.)
According to Business Insider, only two Black Diamonds have sold so far. Could there be a third person in the world willing to pay this much? Scoopi shop owner Zubin Doshi seems to think so. Doshi told Arabian Business that "Popular ice-cream products in the city are priced lower, but we expect Dubai's increasingly aspirational consumers to readily pay a premium for a superior product.”
